WRHS Military Families

Military Flagship School Award

Georgia's Military Flagship School Award recognizes schools going above and beyond to provide a supportive environment for military students and families. Military Flagship Schools provide specific outreach to military families and recognize and accommodate their unique needs. Schools are chosen through a yearly application process that is open to every school in the state. Applications are reviewed by members of the Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission.

Warner Robins High School received this distinguished honor on March 2, 2021, in a ceremony presented by Dr. Woods. We, here at WRHS, are dedicated to creating a supportive and welcoming environment for our military families and students.

Phlandra Johnson is our WRHS Military & Family Life Counseling (MFLC), Licensed Professional Counselor. She is available to assist in school adjustment, deployment and separation, reunion adjustment, sibling and parent-child communication, behavioral concerns, and aid with fear, grief, and loss. Her contact information is 478-235-7808.

Additional services and events provided by the school are:

--Professional development for staff to help ensure they are aware of the unique experiences our military students

have, and make them aware of the services available to students so they can guide them to the appropriate support

   program.

--Upon enrollment (through the school year for students transferring in), we facilitate pairing you with a buddy that

will help show you around and assist in acclimating to WRHS.

--Celebrate Military Appreciation with a FREE entry to a home football game for military families.

--Celebrate National Purple Up Day in April when we recognize the Month of the Military Child.

--Celebrate Military Appreciation Night: We host a night for military families to gather and fellowship with other

military families. Resources for our programs are available and promoted.

We understand military families go through so much; we hope we can help make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible, despite all the hardships. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Family Engagement Liaison: Erica Abram, erica.abram@hcbe.net or at 478-929-7877, ext. 3866. Many of our staff have either served in the military, grown up in a military home, or have a spouse or family member who is a member of the Armed Forces. Ms. Abram is no exception. She grew up in a military home and spent 17 years as a military spouse. Her children attended WRHS and she will be glad to assist you in any way possible to make your transition/enrollment here a success.
